QStar Archive Data Director

Data Director expands the archive disaster protection capabilities of QStar Archive Manager software by providing block-based synchronous mirroring technology.  It ensures that data is continuously written to two drives/devices within a site or across the globe. QStar’s Data Director software gives customers the choice of  multiple real-time mirroring options that include media mirroring within a single library (DDR1), device mirroring within a single site (DDR2), and site mirroring across multiple geographic locations (DDR3).

In addition, in combination with Data Director, STJ / SDJ (Simulated Tape Jukebox) creates simulated tape or optical media on RAID.  Using Data Director to mirror between the real and simulated media a blended archive solution is created; with one mirror on disk and one on tape or optical.

Failover capabilities ensure that if the primary archive cannot be accessed, requests are automatically directed to the secondary archive.

Data Director’s disaster prevention capabilities are powered by QStar’s optimized object file system, to facilitate a resilient archive strategy that provides very cost effective and dependable business continuity for the QStar archive platform.
